Incorporating the Texas essential knowledge and skills to the districts academic curriculum is a course of action that requires curriculum writers to carefully align the fundamental principles of the each subject area making it possible for teachers can map their curriculum and develop the lesson plans. In this session, teachers will be divided into groups by grade level and subject area. This will be a two-part session. First, teachers will be given copies of the Texas essential knowledge and skills and the state test. Each group will look at the testing objectives and make a three month calendar aligning the testing objectives, state standards, and curriculum to reflect the skills and concepts needed for the student success. Second, the calendars must also show weekly assessment that will be given over the vocabulary and standards learned for that week. First, each group will break down the mission and vision statements for the school. Teachers will evaluate on paper what are the ideas, philosophies, and values of the mission and vision statement. This evaluation when help teachers get to the core of why the mission and vision exists, the accomplishments that they hoped to achieve, and what the statements essentially stand for. Second, teachers will look at their break down of the mission and vision statement and determine how does it align with the curriculum.
