Pursuing a graduate degree in homeland security will greatly enhance my ability to move into an executive position within the Waco Fire Department. I have over 25 total years in the fire service with over 9 years at the command level. Over the span of my career, I have worked in a variety of different departments and different settings. One constant that has remained over the course of my career is that I have constantly improved myself through education, not only to improve myself, but to improve the service I provide to the community that I serve.
As an individual, I have always aimed to achieve superior accomplishments. Admission to the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) is one of such primary goals I hope to attain in my high school years. There will be so many new opportunities that unfold with acceptance to a school of such a high caliber. I will gain positive characteristics, which will allow me to take bigger strides to become more successful in life. Not only will I profit from attending this school, but I will also contribute to and enhance the school with a richness that is special to me.

As a hopeful future undergraduate at IUPUI, I am eager to participate in the nursing program. Currently I am taking a class at my high school that will allow me to become a certified nursing assistant if I pass the state exam. Although I have only started this school year, I can tell that I have found my passion through nursing. With this simple goal, I plan to focus on my school work and dedicate my time at IUPUI. Besides the school aspect, I also want to participate in numerous extracurricular activities offered.
Why Was Charles Town so Hard to Settle? Settle; to settle is to adopt a steadier lifestyle, especially in a new home or job. These “settlers” adopt a new lifestyle in the New World, specifically Charles Town. Charles Town was extremely difficult to settle in for an immense amount of reasons.
The AVID program has had a positive impact in my academics, and in my life by helping me focus, enrich, and solidify my goals. I can say with full confidence that AVID has become an integral part of my High School year that equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in college. As an immigrant who came to the United States five years ago and English being my third language, the AVID program challenged me to think critically and strive to learn more. Personality wise, there are major changes that I observed once I joined the program.
As an aspiring physician, I believe that ILS will prepare me for success both inside and outside of the classroom. Through the connections, opportunities, and support I will receive in the ILS program, I know that I will best be prepared to apply to medical school. I value mentorship and am excited to have access to faculty mentors to guide me in my progress. The close community between peers and professors intrigues me to join this community and learn from a like-minded community. I am specifically excited to take new courses such as HLSC208, to learn about connections between molecular biology and computer programming.
Since gaining knowledge of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) it has fascinated me. Upon learning about this amazing opportunity my plans for the future changed. I had already planned the classes for all four years of high school but the opportunity to attend IMSA would be far more suitable for me and would bring far better learning experiences. I was beginning to normalize my plans for the future in comparison to that of my peers at Quincy Senior High School. I often hear my peers saying that they want to drop out as soon as they are legally able to.
The CIA’s commitment to collecting intelligence to protect the people of the United States is admirable, and I would love to work with people who share the same academic and moral principles as me. I specifically want to work with the DO because of the invisible but irreplaceable impact that it has on our country. To me, changing the world is
How has your involvement in the AVID program contributed to your success and/or growth at Fremont High School? Being an AVID tutor at Fremont High school has been enriched my life in multiple ways and I will carry the connections I gained being an AVID tutor beyond my high school career. During tutorial, AVID helped me improve my teaching skills by forcing me to critically think and problem solve. Tutorial time pushed me to try to try to teach and make sure those I was helping understood the problems and why and how they solve them a certain way instead of just showing them how to solve the problem. I did this by empathizing with tutees, recognizing I was once in their shoes and figuring out to how to help them by thinking of what would have
As a result, over the following years, I developed a strong desire to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to obtain a career with the Department of State to fight international terrorism as a civilian. At the time, it felt like a long shot, as I had a great deal of work in front of me to make that type of career move. Namely, I was still in the process of achieving
As an NCO, I have given my best to ensure mission success and train my soldiers. Concurrently, I continue the search for unique and challenging intelligence positions. Becoming a warrant officer will open doors to those new challenges I seek, expands the possibilities of specific training and unique assignment opportunities while still providing the opportunity to train, lead, and mold the next generation of soldiers. During my 11 years as an Intelligence Analyst, I have excelled in positions of greater responsibility and genuinely believe i have more to offer the Army. Throughout my career, I have taken my job seriously and taken pride in my work.
My life's goal is to join the field of Cybersecurity, specifically in the Pentagon. Cybersecurity helps protect the vulnerable weakness of a network all from a computer. I was informed about Cybersecurity when I was in 7th grade and didn't realize that I would take the classes for two more years. Due to my protective nature, I have been pursuing the dream of entering this field ever since family told me the benefits of working for the government.
Pranav Patil Computer Science STATEMENT OF PURPOSE INTRO I believe that the ability to invent, innovate and discover is what has propelled man to the echelons of success. Throughout my life, I have been driven by the desire to “create”, a capability that transcends the passive acquisition of knowledge. It is always the unknown path that has enthralled me more than known terrain. In a world where everything from fighter jets to elevators, interactive graphic displays to digital watches, is driven by computers, I found it difficult not to get fascinated by the technology involved.
