Have you ever dreamed of being a blessing in another person’s life and being able to help a complete stranger? This is why I want to become an intern at the Regional Aid for Interim Needs, Inc. ,known as (R.A.I.N). This is a premier senior service organization established in 1964. They offer services of care that includes a range of care services for seniors and those with disabilities. Our quality services include: full-service neighborhood senior centers, transportation services assistance with benefits and entitlements, case management, and elder abuse services. Their determination is to work harder than most people to not give up. I have learned patience working with them. When working with them, we must treat adults as adults and with respect. For me as an intern student to have a solid understanding of the specific needs of the family I would have to help the family with the right resources, Because a person does not use a wheelchair, have hearing aids, or use a cane does not mean that she does not have a disability. Some disabilities are invisible. The focus should be on interacting with the person and not their disability. People with disability are usually experts in their own needs, so if you have any questions about what will make them most comfortable, ask them first. The first ethical obligation one must keep with clients is confidentiality because it might harm them emotionally; our job is to protect their information. Also, a big issue in ethical areas is reporting any suspected abuse. When people work with children or the elderly, those considered 'vulnerable' in our society, they often have to be extra attentive to that issue of possible abuse of those persons. This is both an issue and a challenge. One ethical obligation as an intern would be to take care of the patients and not mistreat them. Do not treat them differently. Ethics, or moral obligation, guide human decisions in many arenas, including within the workplace; therefore, when an individual is acting as an employee, there are certain ethical obligations she or he has towards his employer that should guide her or his decision making and impact her or his actions. This internship will help provide great experience for that very important component. There is the need to provide service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, place high value on the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. Supervisors or manager can't be watching everything and everyone all the time, so, as an employee you are expected to give 100 percent effort to your job at all times.
