Rough Draft Ethics Paper Ethics in the workplace is a huge part of anyone's job, no matter the job or situation. The definition of ethics is moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity. Behavior in a job is key component to whatever that job may be. Being ethical in one's job can be the difference between having a long career in the field compared to short one. But, ethics do not just start with the employee, ethics also start with the employer. It is a two-way street in the light people want to be treated ethically, and the employer wants to be treated ethically as well. According to Journal of Managerial Issues "another way in which organizations attempt to influence ethical decision-making among their employees is through training and instruction." (Lowery, Christopher) Now training could work better for a company if the company has more input on the matter. If they had more input they could get their employees to believe what they want them to believe. Therefore, the company and upper bosses would be treated how they wanted to be treated. But, the problem may arise in that situation that the employees may not want to take in what the companies putting out. The company and the employee may be on different pages ethically, hence problem may arise. Now the other side of the coin is if the company gets someone not related to the company to come in and train the employees. The training company may give a very general training session compared, to the company related training that could be more precise to what the company is looking for. Giving general training on the subject may give the employee more options on how to be ethical.
