Discuss the two most interesting aspects of ethics training that you have learned about from the required learning content this week. Why did you find these most interesting? Personally, I found the ethical decision-making process intriguing with the six common ethical theories. Moreover, the different ethical theories are tiered as organizations should weigh them differently against each other. Further, while no one or entity is ethically perfect, companies should strive to use Utilitarianism, Deontology, and Virtue Ethics in making decisions, with emphasis placed on virtual ethics if possible. The importance of this federal law covers a gambit of equality issues, ensuring an organization does not discriminate against a person due to their race, sex, religion, or national origin. While other federal laws, like the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, which protects against age discrimination, builds on the Civil Rights Act, this law is essential as it seeks to protect all people from discrimination. Furthermore, Using what you have learned from our ethical decision-making material this week, how would you approach making these decisions above? For ethical training, companies need to ensure they select an employee that is respected and trusted amongst their peers in the organization. By having a trusted trainer or facilitator, employees are more likely to absorb and understand the information, even if they already think they act ethically. Furthermore, the ethical training workshops need to be held and taught with yearly or quarterly refreshers. Additionally, all employees need to attend these workshops, and the training groups need to be diverse so that everyone’s perspectives can be heard.
