These interviews give me the opportunity to understand the workplace based on their type of work in the small business or the company with different position types. My first interview is Anna Roden. She worked for a company named Grand Rapids Sport and Social Club and she was the supervisor for almost 7 years. Anna has strong experience being a supervisor. While handling the pressure with requests and main responsibilities from her manager, she also must be rigorous in order to manage her staff properly. While working at the company, Anna is also responsible for human resources but only the hiring and firing aspect. Thus, she prefers to have a good connection with her subordinates during work and outside of work. That way she has the ability to build good relationships while getting to know the subordinates. Anna has a clear distinction between workplaces and other public areas, so she doesn't like the subordinate might rely on her. That way she won’t feel pressured by them. Anna has own rule to establish with her subordinates in order to keep work relationships and communications professional because she has to communicate with her staff every single day in order to keep track of their work and also has to report to her manager. Even Anna’s supervisors like to build the relationship with the subordinate, she still does not accept excuses when a subordinate need their shift covered unless they have had an unexpected emergency. Then, she will think carefully before she decides on a solution. However, she believes that if the subordinates give her a last minute “emergency”, it is a lie and she does not take those excuses. He works for a company named SEI, which is the service express. The headquarters of the company that he works is in Grand Rapids, MI and the semiconductor is in Morrisville. Jordan is the senior account executive and he is a subordinate with his position for 3 years. Jordan doesn’t want to be a supervisor because he wants to gain more experience and feels more confident as a subordinate. Even if he doesn’t complete his work on time, he will directly come talk with his supervisor about issues with completing work on time. However, he prefers to have work done, so he has time to review before the submission date. Therefore, he doesn't have any difficult moments on managing with his supervisor. Jordan’s jobs is Management in Sales. He has to travel around many different locations in order to meet with his client to exchange deals and customer services, so he doesn't expect to be at his office. However, he has to communicate with his supervisor more often outside of work, so he can properly report to his supervisor. And if he has an issue at work, he prefers to call by phone because it is the best way to communicate with his supervisor for emergencies. Therefore, the problem will be solved as soon as possible. Jordan loves his current job and also shows equal respect to all his supervisors and subordinates. He has to meet with his clients or travel to different conferences during business hours, so he doesn’t often meet with his coworkers
