“Experience is the teacher of all things” - Julius Caesar. I did an interview with two different teachers. The first interview was with Ms. Boshart who has now been teaching for five years and works in the English department. The second interview was with Ms. Hrdlicka who is just on her first year of teaching and works in the Math department. Both of these teachers gave me very insightful answers into the minds of a teacher. The longer a person has been teaching the more they become unsure of their job. The newer the teachers are the more they seem to enjoy the atmosphere of their workplace involving their students but tend to feel the same about their coworkers. I believe this is because they learn more of what their teaching should be about as they help their students grow their education. When i proposed the question about their teaching philosophy, Ms. Boshart said “my teaching philosophy is kind of the same as my philosophy of living” with a little chuckle. Boshart believes that we were all put here to help one another and she does what she does in order to help better the students worldview. As for the new teachers their philosophy is more classroom centered. I could really see that with the different pieces of advice these two teachers had to share with me. From the experienced teacher I was told “teaching is changing in different and scary ways so make sure that this is the calling that you have in your heart, but remember you are always allowed to change what you want to do”. Afterwards she also told me “I hope that doesn’t scare you away from teaching because it really is a great opportunity”. From the new teacher I was told “as early and as often as you can, work with the age range that you want to eventually teach”. Receiving this advice from the teachers was quite a big eye opener. The more experienced teacher wants to make sure you get into a field of work that will bring joy, while the new teacher wants to make sure that teachers are well prepared for their line of
