Schweitzer & Krassa (2010) discuss the roles of intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation in relation to nurses’ attending CEU offerings. I agree about this idea, but in the extrinsic reinforcement, nurses can make reasonable job based on their desire and experience and other extrinsic rewards. Extrinsic motivation is external rewards like financial rewards, praise, reputation, and grades. It is outside individual, and nurses have to avoid punishments. Nurse educator has to make a good job through CEU program. Extrinsic rewards can motivate nurses to acquire skills. Extrinsic factors might be challenge for some nurses. Extrinsic factor might motivate nurses to stay with educational program for compensation costs. Extrinsic factors that might influence nurses’ participation in the educational program like stimulant for participating, adequate salary, rewards, and compensations. It means if nurses have CE attendance, they will be comfortable and acquire professional. They have ability to enhance their knowledge and experience. Job satisfaction and clinical rewards might motivate nurses during participation. Some problems are decrease through CU attendance, such as financial crises, family problems, and mistakes during job. Certainly, nurses have opportunity to update their skills and experience through CE attendance. The important things for nurse educator through CE attendance are time, date, and
