When conflicting ideologies reach a magnitude so high that agreements aren't even an option, war is generally the conclusion. War is accompanied by a number of negative aspects. Specifically, human fatalities, the destruction of economies, harm to the environment, and quoting the film Platoon, "the first casualty of war is innocence." However, besides all the negative aspects, the side that comes out triumphant, generally gains something of great significance. It could be immense power, stature, or land.
History has only proven that the insufficiency of equality as individuals brings hostility between people. For example, the discrimination that people of color had suffered due to the rules and restrictions that were imposed to them. Even though, they were American born citizens, the government was not treating them as equal. Therefore, they started to fight for their rights; most of their manifests were non-violent but due to the discernment from the opposite side some of those protests ended up in riots. A discourse community is a group of people who share a common interest, ambition, and hobby; they use communication to achieve certain goals or issues that they have encountered. There are many discourse communities all over the world, and many of us are in one or more discourse communities; however, they might not even know it. In life, each person will eventually be a part of a discourse community. A discourse community has many definitions; John Swales defines discourse communities as, groups that have goals or purpose, and use communication to achieve these goals.
