Feminism When you think back on history we normally think of those who are “famous” but if you take time to think back to women’s rights you might be able to think of some people who made an impact and still are making an impact. I believe Feminism is still a big factor in today’s social economy. Women should not be restricted from things that we could probably do better than men on. Still to this day women only get paid half of what men get paid in the “real” world. Women’s rights and Men’s rights should be equal. Men shouldn’t put down women by telling them all they are good at is cooking and cleaning. In today’s society there is plenty of women who much rather do the men’s job and vice versa. From then till now we have many women who have made a major impact on women’s rights today. They stood tall for what they believed in should be fixed. Still to this day we have women impacting our society. There is several ladies that help with some of the women’s rights of today. But going to when Susan B. Anthony made a point on our rights. Like everyone else she had the opinion of men and women should be equal. One way she put her name out there was by signing up to vote for the election as well as several others. When the voting day came Anthony and several others voted then several weeks later got arrested. Gloria Steinem was a freelance writer, Steinem wrote for MS magazine in New York and still is to this day. She has wrote several books over her views on feminism. She joined other feminists in 1971 such as Bella Abzug and Betty Friedan in forming the National Women’s Political Caucus (bio.com). A woman who most of us can’t forget is Maya Angelou. She is an author and a poet, she wrote I know Why the Caged Bird Sings in 1969 (mic.com). Because of what her mother’s boyfriend did to her as a child she has been able to speak about that to many women across the world. Feminism doesn’t only have to be narrowed down to equal rights between men and women but can be identified as an issue of sex work. Angelou tells her story from her childhood of her mom’s boyfriend raping her, she uses that story
