It’s Your Choice Each year there are nearly 800,000 children who are reported missing, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.Everyone should have a choice Jaycee Dugard didn’t have a choice when she was taken for 18 years, but she survived that traumatic experience. To prevent kidnappings staying informed and spreading the word about kidnappings should be raised. Before Jaycee was taken by Nancy and Phillip Garrido she lived in Tahoe, California.Jaycee was a very shy person, she is also very self-conscious. Nancy who was one of her captors had multiple opportunities to let Jaycee go, but didn’t want to upset her husband. Jaycee wrote “Deep inside Phillip Garrido is a very selfish man, looking only to gratify himself as much as possible while still projecting to the world a selfless and caring man.” (Dugard 57) She became very dependent on the man who took her, she depended on him to bring her food and water.
