I became interested in the SMS Summer Research Program because I want to become a Summer Project Intern at Baylor College of Medicine. One of my main goals is to create an organization to teach humble communities how to eat right with their own resources. My old school in Mexico was focused on the medical field. I did have classes of research such as bacteriology and immunology. I have also the opportunity to write reports about my lab research. And I have the opportunity to practice during winter in a hospital where I was in the laboratory area only. Being involved in clubs throughout high school has taught me how to work with people coming from different backgrounds. I feel passionate every time that I help people, knowing that they feel healthy and happy is very important for me. Since my main goal is help people without matter my major. I think this program will be the best fit for me on my educational goals. During my freshman year, I decided to contribute to my community by joining a church group called Mexican Female Catholic Youth. This group is known as JCFM in Mexico. Meeting people and working close with my religious group allowed me to realize that I loved to help people. JCFM was a small group that showed people how valuable life is. By talking with different people and knowing their backgrounds, I learned to appreciate my life and started fighting to make their lives better. I want to join in this program to discover more about antigens and how they work in our immune system. As mention before, I have study about immunology and I feel a big passion to explore more and more every time that I have the chance.
