Working with my parents and participating in the FBLA competitive events have shaped me as a person. My parents own a struggling motel and do not have much money to hire employees. This encouraged me to step up and take over managerial operations and front desk responsibilities while they worked at another job. Because the motel is not vastly technology advanced, the room renting process and bookkeeping was all on paper. I have seen firsthand how tedious these processes could be on traditional pen and paper.
Being involved with the youth has truly encouraged me to be the best that I can be. While I have been in high school I have participated in many extracurricular activities.
My education provides the foundation for my future. In order to ensure my success, I must also continue to engage in service projects. My involvement in community service with National Honor Society has kindled
The great and courageous Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others? " I deem this to be a vital question that everyone should ask themselves. I wholeheartedly agree that serving others expresses embracement and impacts your community in a positive light. Therefore, I've made it my duty to be thoroughly involved in my school and throughout my community.
As a student, I’ve always strived to actively participate in my school as much as possible. This all started in middle school when I chose to participate in ASB leadership, track, football, and basketball. I feel that my motives to take on as many tasks as possible stemmed from the strong encouragement from my parents. My dad never attended college, and my mom only attended for a short period of time, and as a result of this, neither were able to obtain their ideal career path. Due to this, my parents constantly reminded me as I grew up about the importance of doing well in school and becoming the first in the family to earn a college degree.
By active community service, leadership roles, and hard work, I have learned the incredible importance of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service. Through these things, I have been substantially prepared by the Beta Club to serve others as I depart high school and

My ultimate endeavor since attending community college has been my involvement in school, specifically with Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. As an engineering major I am limited to a diminutive amount of free time, due to the quantity and difficulty of my classes. However, this limitation and the fact that my ride to school is a two hour trip on public transportation, has not stopped me from participating in extracurricular activities. Applying my time management and responsibility skills that I acquired from taking several math base classes at the same time, I managed to become a member of clubs and attain leadership roles. I first became the Vice President of Service, for Phi Theta Kappa and organized service events on campus and outside of campus.
As a member of several honor societies in high school, I participated in many community service events and hoped to continue serving the community once I began college. I joined the RPI Zeta Eta chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Women’s Fraternity during my freshman year. Being a part of Alpha Gamma Delta has allowed me to continue serving the community. Throughout the school year, we participate in several events including Relay for Life, Volunteering at the Boys and Girls club, and several philanthropy events set up by our chapter and other Greek houses and organizations on campus.
During my time at Bowie State, I have joined various organizations where I am able to give back to the community. As a member of the National Council of Negro Women, I am pleased when able to donate clothes to those in need etc. I am a member of the Golden Key, and National Honor society of leadership and success. Further, I am an alumni of Building steps which is a non-profit organization that helps prepare high school students in Baltimore city for college. This organization provides many students with guidance and resources to help students throughout high school and beyond college.
As a first generation graduate from high school and wanting to go to college, I knew that I was at an disadvantage with my connections to a secondary education. This disadvantage made me pursue different organization that would benefit me in the long run. I got involve in clubs like AVID (Advance Via Individual Determination), Matmaids, Nhs (National Honor Society), Be A Leader, these clubs help me further expand my knowledge of leadership skill and connect to people with common goal that I had. College bound clubs like AVID and Be a leader enlighten me on the process towards college. They help me surround myself with peers that had the same goals as me and thus allowing me to keep that goals in mind and become more aware of the paths I had
While in high school, I was a member of our school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, the Varsity baseball team, a part-time lifeguard for our school pool, a math tutor for students in need, and I was on the Community Education Student Advisory Board. My senior year I was lucky enough to be elected by my peers to be the president of my school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. This role helped me learn great leadership qualities and taught me how to work with people, both of which are great tools to have for the
Being someone who likes working with and helping people, I have and am actively participating in many extra curricular activities and clubs that help me to gain many different experiences which are helping me learn which areas I enjoy and which I do not enjoy as much for my future life choices. I have been an active officer and member of the NTHS since 2015; I am also a member of various clubs on Auburn High School’s campus such as NHS, FBLA, Engineering Club, HOSA and Spanish Club. I have volunteered at East Alabama Medical Center for 4 years through the TAV program. I am also a member of a national organization called (NSHSS). Through these experiences I have learned a lot and enjoyed my time in many of the clubs and have continued to be affiliated with them through my high school years.
In high school I decided to join my school 's gymnastics team. My school isn 't known for having an amazing gymnastics team, and we had never won a City Championship Title. During my freshman year, two of the teams who participated in the City Championship meet with us, were huge rivals. My team and I knew we couldn 't beat either of these teams but we were very intrigued to find out who would win. We showed up the day of the meet and we enjoyed ourselves and tried our hardest.
Throughout my high school career, I have invested time in academics as well as clubs. I have worked hard in all of my classes and have been focused on my grades. I have committed myself to many different clubs, devoting time to Habitat for Humanity, Key Club, the California Scholarship Federation, and National Honor Society. In Habitat I have been the treasurer for two years and am looking forward to moving up soon. In addition to my school activities I have completed over one-hundred hours of community service.
