Would you ever get revenge on someone you love? This is the book Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. This book has won multiple awards since 2017 when the novel was released. The author puts the reader in a 15 year old's perspective, Will, whose brother, Shawn, was killed due to gun violence. Shawn has the biggest impact on Will because Shawns the one who got killed, his own brother, he sees Shawn on the elevator and gets emotional, and finally, Will didn't think twice about getting revenge for Shawn. Which Character has the biggest impact on Will? Shawn does. My first reason for thinking this is because Shaw getting killed influences Will to go get revenge. “If someone you love gets killed, find the person who killed them, and kill them” pg 33. …show more content…

I would say this quote shows that Will is influenced because he is hurt. He sees Shawn again, and he doesn't even talk to him. I think Will seeing Shawn made Will want revenge even more. “You coming?” pg 30. These are the only words Shawn said to Will. Now it doesn't say what these words really mean, where he is going, but we can assume that they are all going with him. Some people may think that Will's dad (Mikey Holloman) had the most impact on Will. Some may say this because Will hasn't seen his dad in awhile, and they have a good conversation on the elevator and make him think about his decision. However, this claim is invalid because, seeing Shawn on the elevator with his brother, who's been there for him unlike his dad, really makes Will want to get revenge for his brother even more. In conclusion, Shawn has the biggest impact on Will because Shawns the one who got killed, his own brother, he sees Shawn on the elevator and gets emotional, and finally, Will didn't think twice about getting revenge for Shawn. Shawn getting killed really hurt his brother's feelings and caused him to want to get revenge. WIll see Shawn in the elevator and him not talking but seeing his tears hurt will and make him want revenge even
