The Titanic, most definitely man’s greatest accomplishment, is made in Belfast, Ireland, where it is then set off into the open ocean, and set for Southampton, England. From there, on April 11, 1912, 2:00 p.m., the Titanic sets sail for New York. All seems well, and it looks for the first time, that man has built the “unsinkable ship.” However, the hopes, lives, ship and all are cut down by an iceberg and now rest at the bottom of the Atlantic. This horrendous fact was shown in both the book and the movie, “A Night to Remember,” along with many other facts and stories.

Because of the sinking of the titanic new regulations and safety rules have been made. I believe that captain Smith was responsible for the sinking of the titanic, because he was ultimately responsible for everyone on the ship. The Titanic was one of the biggest ships. It was built by Harland and Wolff Shipyard in Belfast. It was estimated to carry 2,224 people on board passengers and crew members. On April 14, 1912 the Titanic hit an iceberg around 11:40 pm. As the ship was slowly sinking, Margaret began to help people onto lifeboat six, she also encouraged other people in the lifeboat to stay alive.

There were 2229 persons on the ship before it sank, and out of the 2229 people on board only 706 survived. 1503 people died do to people believing that the ship was not able to sink. It was said that even god himself could not sink that ship. They would be proven wrong on April 14-15 a ship that took over 3000 men and two years for this ship to see the ocean.

Edward is the reason that the Titanic sank because in the text it states that after 40 years that he would not ignore the warnings of the iceberg. Reasons that Edward J. Smith is the reason for the Titanic sinking is because if Smith knew knew that there was an iceberg coming up he should have went over, so he would miss it. Instead of curving over and going the opposite way, he kept going and thats what ruined the Titanic.
Although some people believe the captain is more responsible because he was controlling the boat, the moon sunk the Titanic because it was not bright, so the captain would have to look carefully at what he was doing. According to the story Exploring the Titanic “The command of this great ocean liner was given to the senior captain of the White Star Line, Captain Edward J. Smith. This proud, white- bearded man was a natural leader and was popular with both crew members and passengers. Most important, after thirty-eight years’ service with the White Star Line, he had an excellent safety record.” This proves that he had been a captain for a long time and knew what he was doing so it wasn’t his fault that the Titanic sank.

The Titanic’s maiden voyage was a disaster because the people didn’t prepare for things like this. Most ships go over a safety procedures, but the Titanic didn’t do such a thing. They only rescued wealthy people, which I felt was wrong. Some passengers jumped off the ship in desperation. Whoever drove the ship couldn’t have been paying attention.
The Titanic is well known around the world, but just incase you happen to not know what i’m talking about i’m here to explain. It all started when Morgan Robertson wrote a book “The Wreck of the Titan.” It was about the “unsinkable” ship the Titanic. It was launched from England to New York, for people that wanted to go on the voyage. It hit an iceberg and sank and took many lives with it.
The Titanic’s main voyage was a disaster because of several reasons, one being that the Californian never picked up their SOS’s. Another is that nobody thought the ship would sink. The crew didn’t heed the warnings from other ships. An iceberg was also apart of the disaster. They did not have enough lifeboats to save everyone.
