The Titanic is well known around the world, but just incase you happen to not know what i’m talking about i’m here to explain. It all started when Morgan Robertson wrote a book “The Wreck of the Titan.” It was about the “unsinkable” ship the Titanic. It was launched from England to New York, for people that wanted to go on the voyage. It hit an iceberg and sank and took many lives with it. This book was turned into a movie, and that is when everyone started to know the Titanic and the disaster it all was. I have always been fascinated by the Titanic since I watched the movie. I'm not really here to talk about the movie or the book though, i’m here to take you on the journey from the very beginning of the Titanic. The building of the Titanic was in Belfast, England. The construction started on March 31, 1909. The designers(Builders) in other words were Harland and Wolff. The Titanic was built right next to her sister boat “The Olympic,” that started construction three months before the Titanic. It took essentially 15,000 workers to build the 220ft ship,, which in the process 8 of those workers died. The bottom of the ship had 16 watertight compartments, that had watertight doors. There was only twenty life boats on the ship, only enough for half of the people. That was one of the flaws of being so big. The Titanic started to sink as it filled with water, time was running out for the people. They finally started to lower life boats an hour after the collision. They put women and children on the lifeboats first. As the lifeboats were being filled and lowered and moving away from the ship sinking. There were many people still on the ship, that had no idea what to do. They had no where to go the water was -2 degress they would of died fifteen minutes in the water.
