The short story All Summer In A Day by Ray Bradbury is about jealousy and reveals the bad actions it can cause. Such as, some bad actions that occurred are them shoving her in a closet, denying her opinion, and in addition the students lied to their teacher. Other readers have claimed the theme of this short story is the power of desire, but the desire might have been driven by jealousy. In addition, Margot’s peers also kept her from seeing the sun and in the end this compelled them to feel guilty. To sum it up, the guilt they felt for their actions ruined the rare experience they had recently been exposed to.

Throughout the story there are many representations of abominable actions resulted from being envious. For example, when the students shoved Margot in the closet they demonstrated a bad reaction to how they felt. For example, one of Margot’s peers said“Hey everyone, let’s put her in a closet before the teacher comes!” This student later regretted the extreme risk he took. This illustrates that because Margot has not been on Venus as long as the rest of them, they all are envious of her causing these bad actions to happen. The reason it is not is because the students desired something because they were jealous. The thing that motivates the desire and want is jealousy and the power of desire results in the bad actions. Many situation, or arguments arise from jealousy. In this short story the bad actions were the result of wishing you had something that you don’t and taking your anger out on someone else. Over all, the power of desire is mostly caused by feeling
