William told them to help lock Margot in a closet because of the fact she remembers the experience of the sun. They don’t believe her and don’t even take a chance to hear out how and why she knows the sun would come out that day because they know she already saw it. The schoolmates saw the sun but they were young, while Margot used to see it every single day. As explained above, Madame Loisel is never satisfied with anything she gets. Her husband buys her the tickets to the Ministry, and she blames it all on him. She exclaimed that she has nothing to wear to such an occasion, and takes it as offensive. He feels this guilt trip afterward because he is trying to provide for his wife, but can never seem to figure out why she is never satisfied with what he gets. When she cooks him dinner, she always wants more whereas he is a humble man and is happy with anything she makes him, showing all her gratitude but Madame Loisel never does, and always takes her anger out on him.
