An act purely out of love or jealousy had lead to the death of Hae Min Lee. The thought of someone going against their religion to perform an act of love and leaving you for another, might enrage or devastate some folks. Not Adnan. For he had multiple girls in which he could go to. Of course he would always have a love for her. Shortly after their break up, Hae went missing. The fingers had pointed to the “bitter-ex boyfriend”. There was no vengeance or hard feelings from Adnan who had been convicted as the guilty party by association. The murder had taken place after school and was finalized by 2:36 pm. Proving that there was only twenty one minutes for this murder to have been complete. During an interview with Sarah, Adnan explains “The buses took ten to fifteen minutes to clear out due to the bus loop. Other kids also trying to get to their cars and leave as well. There were over fifteen hundred students filling the halls, stairways, and corridors alongside you. Everyone attempting to leave the school as quickly as possible.” (Koenig “Route Talk”). This information itself makes it harder to prove he did it. Yes, it is a possible task seeing as Sarah and her friend had made a test run with all the stops and such Adnan would’ve faced. Their take took twenty two minutes and two seconds. Close enough to the convicted twenty one minutes. However, Adnan visited the library to check emails, and had went to track practice after school. Later on after track, he had accompanied Jay to the mall to purchase a birthday present for his friend and Jay’s girlfriend, Stephanie. So when could this have happened? Polite, respectful, calm, and had an oath to his religion” (Koenig “The Breakup”) Sarah tells us. Even by other people it was known he was a good kid. Rabia stated “he was like the community's golden child” (Koenig “Rumors”). It was a strict part of his religion and more so from his parents, that he was not to get sexually involved in a girl. Mostly aiming towards no dating until marriage. Adnan often was caught on the phone talking to girls, but his mother wouldn’t mind too much seeing as Adnan played it off as ‘she's just a friend’. People see it as Adnan and Hae had a secret relationship, it was a bit sketchy. His intentions were labeled as nothing more than pure love for Hae.
