Jeffrey Dahmer is a well known American serial Killer and Sex Offender who killed and dismembered seventeen men in 1978 through 1991. Looking into his childhood, at the age of four Dahmer went through a traumatic and irritating recovery. He had surgery to correct a double hernia but there was a noticeable change in him. He became withdrawn from his family especially right after the birth of his brother. Following this, Dahmer became fascinated with animal bones and started to study different ways on how to be clean and preserve them. He picked up a hitchhiker and brought him back to his parents home. He then proceeded to get this man drunk and when he wanted to leave, Dahmer didn’t let him. He struck him in the head and strangled him. Shortly after, he dismembered the body and packed the parts into plastic bags. He buried the parts behind the home and later dug them up, crushed the bones then scattered them across a wooded ravine. His second killing wasn’t until 10 years later. After this one, Dahmer said that this is when his obsession with killing went into full swing. Two more lives were taken in his grandmother's house, until she kicked him out in 1988. She didn’t know that any of this was happening at the time but didn’t like his drinking problem, the smells that came from the basement and all of the guys he brought home. His youngest victim was a 13 year old boy. Jeffrey had bought his own apartment and told the boy that he would take nude photos of him for money. The outcome of this was charges of sexual exploitation and second-degree sexual assault. Over the next two years, he had killed 12 more people. Which brought the count to 17. Police found numerous body parts in his refrigerator and freezer along with multiple pictures of his victims during the killing process. His trial began in January 1992 and due to his victims being mostly black, security was taken very seriously. They had put up an eight-foot barrier of bulletproof glass which separated him from the gallery. He first pleaded not guilty to the chargers, but later pleaded guilty by virtue of insanity when his defense described some gruesome details claiming that no one could ever commit these terrible crimes without being insane. The jury chose the projections side that Dahmer was aware of the horrible acts he was doing and still went through with them. He was found guilty, but sane, on all counts on February 15, 1992 and was sentenced to 15 life terms.
