My opinion of Jesus and Empire, The Kingdom of God and the New World Disorder and the author of this book is Richard A. Horsley was that it helped me understand that the gospel of Mark was not just about Jesus coming to Israel to heal people and tell them about the good news about God. It was also about the to tell the reader that there was political, economic and social oppression that was going on as well. The way we are taught as children is that Jesus coming to Israel was this happy time and it ended traumatically which as a child was hard to understand why it did. After reading this book it has helped me understand the political view of this time and how we can relate to it today in our own society. America is a lot like Rome as in politics, ethics, poverty and oppression. In this paper, I’m going to summaries the Gospel of Mark and this of many stories of when Jesus came to Galilee. The story of Moses tells on how God saved the people from Pharaoh by sending Moses to help them from the oppression of Pharaoh. Pharaoh tells Moses that he will be the only king that there is no one above him. Moses was chosen by God to warns the people that if they do not listen to God he will send sickness and disease into the city. Moses lead the people out and told them to follow him to the promise land. One the way to the promise land Moses is commanded by God to separate the Red Sea so the people can pass through. People doubted Moses but every time they did God provided for them. Moses went to the top of the mountain and received the ten commandments from the way people should that all believe in the God. Moses told the children of Israel that God must kill him and Joseph will lead the people the rest of the way to the promise land.
