Jim Crow Laws
Have you ever wondered how the Jim Crow Laws worked? Sadly the Jim Crow Laws treated the colored like slaves even after they were freed. Jim Crow wasn’t only a person, but was a form of systematic discrimination employed by the whites against colored. The Jim Crow Laws started around the 1930’s and ended around the 1960’s. This law is mainly about slavery and the racism of the whites.
The Jim Crow Laws were made for the freed African Americans that were slaves. This law prevented the colored to live the same life style as the whites. This is the reason why the whites didn't like the idea of the colored becoming citizens and having the right to vote. Because of this law the colored were still being treated like slaves. As more Jim Crow laws were put into practice across the United States,african americans and their few white supporters tried to fight back. This was not very successful for the colored and supporters.
The Jim Crow laws are similar to the apartheid because of the racism. They would separate people by skin color; and each group had their own church, train, car, schools, neighborhoods, and etc.The faculties for the whites were the most superior and most funded than the other races. The apartheid was a national system while the Jim Crow laws was a religious system. The apartheid was also legal segregation while the Jim Crow laws was a mixture of legal and private segregations. There was also a population difference because in south america there was only 15% of colored people and an overwhelming amount in africa. In africa whites were disfranchised and coloreds were able to vote , but in south america no whites were disfranchised.
