Ruveyda Karaca Ms. Brown English 1301 24 March 2016 John Kennedys Speech John F Kennedy has delivered one of the best speeches on January 20, 1961.His inauguration speech was super powerful and it has gathered every single person’s attention in the nation. It shows up a strong appeal to pathos, ethos and logos. Kennedy was the youngest president to be in office. In his academics he got his degree from Harvard and later on joined the navy. He wrote “profiles in courage” which has one of the most recognized awards the Pulitzer Prize Award. He used reasons to demonstrate his idea. In the entire speech the use of logos was at the minimum compared to pathos and ethos. However this does not mess up the order and the flow of the paper, yet it seriously strengthens it. “Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torched has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed and to which we are committed today at home around the world.”(Kennedy, 1961) All these words are always in our mind and we keep it up there somewhere. But the point is we need to keep reminding each other and never forget about it. We need to repeat this so much that when we hear it again we have it memorized and we have no doubt about it.
