The 1960 presidential election was a significant moment in American history. It was a race between John F. Kennedy, the Democratic candidate, and Richard Nixon, the Republican candidate. In this presidential election I would have voted for JFK because he was prepared, his previous voting record, experience with education and politics, and what he is trying to change and carry out in the country. Kennedy had a charismatic and inspiring personality which resonated with most of the voters. It proved he cared what was going on and he was well prepared.

In my opinion Kennedy won the 1960 debate against Nixon although the radio listener believed otherwise. Kennedy is one of the greatest speaker from a political aspect. His charisma and confident mannerisms conveyed well to the population viewing the debate on television. Not only did his answer reflect well on his position but his body language show how sure he was on taking on the duty of being the next president of the United States. On the other hand, Nixon did not display this same type of confidence to the television audience but the radio didn’t see his nervousness.
John F. Kennedy’s presidency was a major impact on America and its people through foreign politics, social reform, and science. Kennedy favored peace globally while keeping America a world presence. He was also one of the first Presidents who truly paid attention to racial conflicts and helped black people in their Civil Rights Movement.
