While there are many great American writers, none can compare to the remarkable and inspiring works of John Green. He was born August 24, 1977 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Three weeks after he was born, his family moved to Michigan, then later Birmingham, Alabama, and finally to Orlando, Florida. He attended Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando, and Indian Springs School outside of Birmingham, Alabama. Although John Green has many inspiring works, the most famous one, “The Fault In Our Stars” written in two-thousand, twelve is about Hazel Grace Lancaster, a sixteen- year-old girl with thyroid cancer that has spread to her lungs. Hazel’s parents force her to attend a local support group, where she soon meets seventeen-year-old Augustus Waters, who is an ex-baseball player and amputee. Augustus has osteosarcoma, which had caused him to lose his leg. After they meet at support group, Augustus invites Hazel over to his house to watch movies, and they share the experiences they’ve had with dealing with cancer. Augustus asks Hazel how her fight with cancer has been, and she gives him the same story she gives everyone else on a daily basis. But, Augustus craves more than that..he doesn't want the same old “I’m okay” he wants to know Hazel’s thoughts, wishes, and dreams. Augustus cares for her.
