Goals
● “Put your own thoughts aside.” (Beebe and Masterson 154)
● “Be there mentally, not only physically.” (Beebe and Masterson 154)
● “Make a conscious, mindful effort to listen.” (Beebe and Masterson 154)
● “Take adequate time to listen-don’t rush the speaker; be patient.” (Beebe and Masterson 154)
● “Be open-minded.” (Beebe and Masterson 154) The goal of this exercise is to build verbal and nonverbal communication skills as well as strengthening team members listening skills.
Group size
There will be groups of at least three people. The first member will be the speaker, the second member will be the listener and the third member will be the observer.

● Would school uniforms help the students perform better academically?
● What are some good and bad things about the education system in United States?
What questions are you going to ask during the debriefing?
● Did you agree with the opinion you had heard from your partner? If not, did it make it difficult for you to repeat their statement? If you agreed with the statement. Did you want to add your own opinion to the statement? Was it uncomfortable for you to be in a situation, where you couldn't voice your opinion and were only able to repeat it?
● What did you think was positive throughout this experience?

Try to envision what's going to happen. Make some predictions for me about what's going to happen. Develop plans for multiple possibilities, so that your team can roll with the punches if necessary.
Possible outcomes- the comments should not require any arguing, negativity or comments back. This should allow for open mindedness. We predict that arguing is not going to be an issue because with the directions stating that there is no feedback or voice of opinion from the other listener and observer to cause a debate about the topic.
