Establishing political rights for citizens in the American colonies was sometimes a rocky process. In 1735, John Peter Zenger helped establish the right of freedom of the press. Zenger was a German immigrant, who went to work for a newspaper called; The New York Weekly Journal. Soldiers, not just in the Vietnam War, carried personal items that assisted them through a time of fighting and death. These personal items were attachments that allowed the men to hold onto something, even if it was small, to help them continue fighting. In the book, The Things They Carried, there are several characters that possess everyday nicknacks that bring them happiness in a time of sadness. These characters and what they held on to include: Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, who holds onto hope, Henry Dobbins holds on to love, and Norman Bowker holds on to superstition. In this article by John O’Sullivan states that there is no need for adults to take over their child’s experiences. They have to learn and become who they are by themselves with no outside help. If the parent is taking control over everything the child does, then there is no room for the child to do things by themselves. This is a very bad impact of leadership by parents because they end up hurting their children in the long run. Now without parents if the child is to learn on their own and fix their mistakes they will become successful (O’ Sullivan 2015).
Coaching- The coaching leader develops people for the future. He is the one who is able to recognize talent and how best to develop it. The leadership style works best when the leader wants to help teammates build lasting personal strengths that make them more successful overall. Communication is a central component of coaching and is “the act of expressing ideas, information, knowledge and feelings, as well as understanding what is expressed by others”. (reference) Chhikara (2013) suggests that “the success of any coach at every level of competition, is determined by his or her ability to effectively communicate with their athlete(s)”. Communication is essential for coaches to teach new skills, correct faults or solve problems, which is why it is important for coaches to have effective communication skills. Communication can be both verbal and non-verbal; Coaches communicate many of their messages through their voice, actions, facial expressions and body language.
