What is Leadership?
Leadership often demands focus and sacrifice, to be self-disciplined and decisive and the willingness to be a role model. I have spent most of my life playing baseball, the game I love. My love for baseball has been at the center of my life since I can remember. I have played the game since I was three years old and hope to play as long as the good Lord lets me. Playing this game has taught me the leadership qualities I have today.
So with that said I’m going to use what I learned in baseball to explain what makes a great leader. The game of baseball has taught me that it takes a team that works together to be successful. Teamwork, no one player will make or break the team. I will always be on time, work hard and help those around me. Be honest, uplifting and helpful in giving corrections to other players. Another main characteristic I have is hustle; always hustle on and off the field. Play with enthusiasm, never be lazy, hard work gets you everything. Look fastball react curveball. Great leaders show responsibility and accountability and never back down in the face of adversity. It’s taught me to be patient, for that perfect pitch but if it doesn’t come and I’m standing there with two strikes I need to be ready for anything. It’s taught me to give it all I got, to go all out for my team no matter how difficult it gets. If my uniform isn’t dirty I didn’t play hard enough.
