Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience leadership from different people. I have gain important qualities of being a good leader through many experiences. There is one particular person that has showed me to be a team player and to have patience. That person would be my college baseball coach Tom Goldy at the University of Urbana. The reason why Mr. Goldy is the best leader I have experienced is because of his personality. Mr. Goldy treats his players like they were his kids. I have had many coaches throughout my baseball career but I have not had a relationship like I had with Mr. Goldy. Mr. Goldy showed me that win or lose that is no reason to give up, you still have to get back up. His leadership skills have earned him the captain role for his team. The influence he has on his team has developed growth with his team. The core values, teamwork, and discipline are the major concepts he likes to focuses on as a captain/leader. He would like to credit his high school baseball coach Brandon Asher for helping him obtain the core values he has learned. Cris mentions that there was one particular moment when his coach showed him these valuable lessons. During a game, one of Cris’s teammate who was a captain at the time was frustrated over a call from the umpire. His actions were very clear that he was unhappy. Brandon Asher pulled the player aside and had a conversation with him. At the end of the conversation Asher benched him because of his actions. Even though, he was a captain on the team Asher still disciplined him by sitting him on the bench. That really showed Cris how to discipline players properly and really showed
