One can create a portrait with different types of paint, chalk, pens and pencils, the lens of a camera. A musician can convey a feeling within lyrics, or notes of a song. Separate forms of art, yet if you look closely enough, you can see similarities as well.

Popular culture is defined as expressions of shared experiences that are much more fundamental to our society, including the values and beliefs that have shaped it, for example, integrity, community, compassion, courage, sacrifice, respect, hard work, and justice. Some would argue that pop culture, as of recently has been shaped by hip hop. Shawn Carter, popularly known as Jay-Z, is a hip hop icon who has transcended music itself through his private person and musical legacy. The fact that his wife is an ultra successful icon herself has added to the his image.

However, there is a side of rap with positive aspects including a focus on social change. Known for his poetic and thought-provoking lyrics, American rapper and songwriter Kendrick Lamar is an example of this side of hip-hop.
So many people around the world want to be like him, they try and learn from him. Not only do people want to make music similar to him, but they want to dress like him and be cool like him. Over his years of people popular he has basically created a signature style, Timberlands have always been his thing. Sometimes when social injustice and racial issues drench the society, music is one of the best way to demonstrate against these problems.
