The Story of an Hour, written by Kate Chopin, has a delicate and pensive feeling that carries the story. The story portrays a woman who hears some life-changing news, and the events that take place after. Throughout the story, she struggles with her emotions and gets lost in her feelings. She continues to pour out her thoughts while her life has drastically changed. This story allows readers to view Mrs. Mallard's journey and feel her rollercoaster of emotions. The Story of an Hour is about a woman named Mrs. Mallard, and how she reacts to hearing her husband has died in an accident. At first, she feels lost, empty, and sad. But shortly after, she realizes that things may not be entirely bad. She gets lost in her thoughts, and thinks about many great possibilities are open to her now. These possibilities mean that she was able to live freely and purely now. Mrs. Mallard felt like she finally could live her life for herself rather than for a man. Mallard felt and the deeper meaning of the story. For example, the following line is one of the details utilized by the author; “There was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of victory.” This quote greatly expresses the freedom Mrs. Mallard feels now that her husband is gone, and that she can live her life the way that she wants. However, when she sees her husband did not die, she quickly realizes that she will have to go back into her married lifestyle again, and she unexpectedly dies. Her death, however, has a deeper meaning that adds to the story. Doctors said that heart disease was the cause of her death, but it was the outcome of how Mrs. Mallard felt when her freedom had been taken away from her upon her husbands
