Leonidas was the king of the City- State Sparta from (C. 490-480). He lived from (C.530-480)and he died at the Battle of Thermopylae on the third day. Leonidas was most famously known from the Battle of Thermopylae, this was mostly because of the movie 300. The Battle of Thermopylae was the place where Leonidas’ leadership and heroic acts as a Spartan were revealed and showed Leonidas true value to the Spartans. Before Leonidas’ battled the Persians there was a period of preparation to see if the Persians could avoid the upcoming battle. Before the battle began the Persians greatest enemy was waiting in what was thought to be the only way to their destination. Then a Persian scout found the Anapaea Path but could not navigate through it, so the Persian king Xerxes waited four days while he sent scouts to try to navigate it, this was so he could avoid the looming attack in the mist. Unfortunately for King Xerxes his men could find no way through the pass, finally on this Fourth day he gave up on the pass and decided to push through Leonidas and his men. Now Leonidas commits his most noble act as a Spartan, he fight until not only his life was taken but every soldier on that battlefield facing the Persians. This is not only a heroic moment but also a very honorable, and memorable moment. This was such a great act of Leadership that it went down in history as one of the most amazing battle ever fought by any civilization ever.This was because the Spartan King was able to provided just enough time for his people and allies to make preparations for the oncoming attacks and how the Spartans were able to hold back an unbeatable opponent .
