Knowledge can be an exceptional trait to have. But having too much knowledge can lead man away from power. William Golding’s Lord of the Flies demonstrates that man can have knowledge but not yield power. Ralph is a boy who has the ability to survive on the abandoned island he has crash landed on by using his knowledge. After he brings all the other boys together and is elected leader, he begins the construction of survival on the island. Ralph begins to “think things out” and assign people to certain jobs (23). Knowledge is key to surviving in harsh situations. As Ralph and the other boys are out hunting, Ralph notices that it isn’t a good idea to keep moving because the sun is setting.
