Imagine people riding on horseback, wearing white hooded robes, beating people in the streets because of their race, and shooting at others. Imagine the terror in people’s eyes as they watched the life get taken from their loved one’s because of a group who believes in a white-dominated society. The Ku Klux Klan is a terrorist group that believes America was only founded for the white race. The KKK murders and beats others because of their race, destructs property, and sometimes sets off bombs. The Ku Klux Klan had an interesting start and has many beliefs and rituals, the KKK is still around today.

For over 150 years the KKK has been around, founded as a club in the year 1865. The “Ku Klux Klan movement remains active in 33 states” (Despite). This proves that after many decades of fighting for equal rights, there is still hate and discrimination. In addition, there are many ways you can join this terrorist group online. With a long history of violence, the KKK is considered the most well known, and oldest hate group in America(Ku). This shows that even after years of inactivity the Ku Klux Klan is still considered a threat. According to Jonathan A. Greenblatt, “The Ku Klux Klan movement is small and fractured, but still poses a threat to society” (Despite). Showing, that the Ku Klux should still be considered a threat. The Ku Klux Klan may not be as violent as the group was in its early years, but we still should be aware that they are active. Recently, the KKK has also attacked Catholics. As the Ku Klux Klan has been expanding, there has been a lot of controversy on the group. For instance, some people believe the club should be banned while others think it is a belief or choice.
