Kurt Cobain, American singer-songwriter, was born in Hoquiam, Washington and grew up in the working-class town of Aberdeen. Kurt was raised by his parents, Donald and Wendy, who divorced when he was just eight years old. The effect of Cobain’s parents splitting caused him to be shuffled amongst many of his family members at a very young age. The unstable environment he was surrounded by caused him to develop a rebellious attitude which he would later express through his music. At the age of 14, Cobain began to experience bullying in high school because of the decision he made to pursue music and art, over sports. As a result of the bullying Cobain faced, he dropped out of high school his senior year and began investing his time with local bands and attending rehearsals. Cobain befriended Chad Channing and the two musicians formed the famous grunge rock band known as “Nirvana”. Shortly after, a legendary artist was born and Cobain’s music …show more content…

With every album he released with Nirvana, he obtained more fame than he was comfortable with having. However, Cobain did use his fame to advocate for many voices who were under-represented such as; women, gays, minorities, and teens much like himself. During the time period of around 1989 was the peak of Cobain’s career with sold out shows, number one hits, and more fame than one could imagine. Through the journey, Cobain met Courtney Love whom he fell in love with, and married shortly after. Soon after the two met, he fell into an intense heroine and drug addiction. A year after the couple got married, they got pregnant and had a baby girl but the drug use of both himself and his wife eventually caused a court case where they were forced to fight for the custody of their child, Frances.
