Summer Reading Assignment: Lord of the Flies As the world commemorates 25 years since the end of the Second World War, people all around the world recognize and condemn the atrocious activities that occurred, and offer their support to the victims of the genocide. However, there is one particular person who was not prey to the Holocaust or the horrific activities of the Nazis under the rule of Hitler; rather he is a survivor of a unique event occurring at the same time as World War 2. General Jack Merridew, now 37, is one of many boys stranded on an uncharted island without adults after a plane crash at the dawn of World War 2.
All children have a fear of something; spiders, snakes, even unknown monsters. In William Golding’s Lord of The Flies, a group of English boys are stranded on a deserted island with no adults. Being such young boys, they start to become afraid of a beast. But the big question is, what is the beast in Lord of The Flies? Is it the War that is happening when the boys plane crashed?
The environment, specifically the power within proves stronger than the character traits of those involved. In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, there is a complete and very sudden elimination of civilization and structure within the group of boys. This is significant because of their age and the lack of ability to be independent that has not developed enough to the extent that they have the capability to survive on a deserted island together without any adults. For instance, Ralph exclaims “No grownups!” (Golding 8).
In the novel “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding the ultimate one responsible for the destruction of the island is Jack. In the novel Golding has wrote about how a group of british boys crashed on a plane and landed on a island where there are no adults,just little british boys stranded on a island .In the beginning one of the boys Ralph was the responsible leader where he knew what to do an how to manage. But of course there was this one cureles jealous boy that wanted to be a leader,the one in charge. Because of how ruthless and savage Jack was he took the fear that the boys had within them and used it against them to make them join his tribe which started the destruction of the island.
After crash landing on an uncharted island with the boys from Lord of the Flies and struggling to create order, having completed extensive research on the various forms of government and the philosophies of some of the greatest thinkers will be beneficial in creating the perfect system. An ideal government that would work best for the boys can be established to help with any conflicts that may emerge. The ideal form of government that would best fit on the island with the boys would be a combination of an oligarchy and a direct democracy together. An oligarchy is defined as a small group of people having control and in charge.
Lord of the Flies Research Lord of the Flies was written in 1954 by William Golding and is an allegory to World War II. In the novel a group of young boys are stranded on an island and forced to create a new way of living as well as becoming self-governed. While fighting over leadership positions the older boys, Piggy, Jack, and Ralph, begin to show their different styles and personalities. After a substantial amount of time being confined in a desolate place, they begin to show signs of intense savagery. This evolves into a natural society with stealing and murder.

First, the fire hints a hope of rescue with responsibility that keep on a fire going through out the story. When Ralph argue with Jack who just wants to hunt the pig, Ralph states “Look at us! How many we are? And yet we can’t keep a fir going to make smoke. Don’t you understand?
Human nature, which inhabits all of mankind as a whole, is defined as “the general psychological characteristics, feelings, and behavioral traits of humankind, regarded as shared by all humans”. Human life has all throughout time, constantly been put into situations which reveal the true nature of mankind. Hardships and dire situations are the moments in which human nature tends to unveil itself the most. Humans have an innate selfishness which is what pushes them to survive, and thrive. He believed that people will act immorally based on the extent on their corrupted nature if left without order. This might explain why anarchy leads to higher amount of crime and bad deeds, because there is no controlling leader.
