Growing up as a ‘third culture kid’ in Hong Kong, a multicultural metropolis, sparked my motivation to pursue a life-long career in Law. Known as ‘Asia’s World City’, the transient place I call home, is an eclectic mix of East and West,uniquely governed by ‘one country, two systems’. Moving from Hong Kong to Toronto built my independence and made me an expert at straddling cultural divides.
My greatest role model has always been my father, a Cambridge educated doctor, former investment banker, and current healthcare entrepreneur in China. Over the years, I have witnessed first-hand how the law has played a significant role in every single aspect of his diverse career. Dinner table debates in our house always centred around world events, business, ethics, human rights, and innovative ideas to help the globally disenfranchised. We took a Socratic approach and were always challenged to identify and question the assumptions we used in our arguments. I knew then, the direction I wanted my life to take.

It guides citizens on an individual level and nations as a whole. It defines cultural values, acts as a compass for morality and delineates societal power structures. After multiple visits to the Supreme Court of Justice in Toronto with a practicing Lawyer, I was able to witness the judicial process first hand and gained a deeper understanding of the impact a lawyer can have on the outcome of a case - and thus the client’s future. Helping people has always been of great importance to me and a career in Law would allow me the opportunities I seek to improve the lives of others and impact
