Introduction Effective leadership by professionals is crucial in all healthcare organizations. The way workers define leadership has changed from generation to generation, however, a common description of leadership is the motivating behavior of an individual directing the activities of a group towards a shared goal. (Ward, 2017) Influencing group activities and coping with change are some of the key aspects that an individual in a leadership role will be working towards. According to an article, "management is about coping with complexity" and "leadership is about coping with change", therefore, both aspects are critical to a successful leader.
Introduction: Any organization recognizes the significance of leadership and its crucial role in achieving their goals and success. In healthcare organizations, the complexity of the system and the difference in defining its success goals are reshaping the practice of leadership and its standards. According to House et al. (2002, p.5) a leader is able to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute to the success of the organization or task. Healthcare and business settings are different in terms of goals and system contexts.
Healthcare is a complex industry and these skills are essential to a smoothly run system. For instance, leadership skills are considered very important because good leaders are able to be authoritative but also have an interpersonal relationship with the people they are mentoring or leading (Cushing, 2016). This creates a positive work environment and enhances quality of care given to patients. Furthermore, a well-rounded leader in the health care industry will create opportunities for their employees and introduce them to challenges while also supporting them though the situation (Cushing, 2016). Also, a skill incorporated into leadership that can be connected to management is the change factor of healthcare.
Leadership Analysis Introduction One of the popular definitions of a leader is, "The only definition of a leader is someone who has followers." ( ) A more comprehensive definition that highlights striking features of a leader is, "A simple definition of leadership is that leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.” ( ) A closer scrutiny of the characteristics of an influential leader would many ways assist one, in recognizing those attributes in an attempt to assimilate the best in others.

Leadership has been defined in a variety of ways, there are multiple authors and theorists who have tried to define and understand leadership, all leading to varying theories and conclusions, but one thing that is universally understood is the importance of effective leadership and how someone with good leadership skills can impact so many people around them. (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 1999; Yukl, 2002; Northouse,2013) The main components that have been identified to play a role in leadership are relations between leader and subordinates, interaction form between leader and followers, the influence that the leader has, the way in which the leader behaves and finally a leader’s traits. (Yukl, 2002) These elements that make up a leader, are then used as building blocks to identify the way in which each specific leader deals with its followers.
If the rules are made to be broken, then the definitions and types are made to be mixed and to create new ones. According to Ronald A. Heifetz “leadership is what individuals do in mobilizing other people in organizations or communities to do what he called adaptive work”. (Ronald A. Heifetz, 1994) There are four main types of leadership: Authoritative, Consultative, Dictatorship, and Participative leadership. Authoritative leaders provide their clear expectations, what needs to be done and how.
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
Discussing my strengths, I can say I relate well to others and this allowing me to adapt well to many personalities. As a leader it helps others feel they can talk to me with ease and they feel they can trust me. There are diverse groups working on projects that affect different areas of my organization. Relating well to others is a way I advertise myself. Successfully work with different personalities elevates my chances of leading future projects.
Introduction Leadership can bring to mind a variety of images and definitions. One may think of a political leader, passionately pursuing a social or civic cause or an army general leading his troops into battle, with a clearly defined strategy that delivers a victorious result. Similarly, in the corporate world, it may be an executive developing and deploying a business strategy designed to beat the competition (Mindtools, 2016). What we can garner from all of these examples is that leadership is an influenced-based relationship, and as defined by Ormond (2011) a leader is someone who has the natural or learned ability to influence and lead others towards achieving a goal or objective. LEADERSHIP Ogbeidi (2012) found that leadership is referred as “ability to lead, direct and organize a group”. The study of leadership has developed scientifically through changing paradigms during its history where several models and theories have tried to explain the concept of leadership. Kuchler (2008) acknowledges that although subject of leadership is diverse and somewhat scattered but it tends to be one of the most widely discussed topics by the researchers all over the world. We found myriad definitions of leadership after studying detailed literature on it. The concept of leadership is described by different researchers with different perspectives.
Thus, there are transformational, collaborative, conflict, shared, distributed, ethical, and Functional Results Oriented Healthcare Leaderships within healthcare systems (Al-Sawai, 2013). All styles are essential for the operational activities of the management and must be applied equally. However, leaders are people, and every individual is different and sometimes may not be able of handling all types of leadership, even though, being good in one of them. For instance, a consultant is very motivating and transformational. He or she can create a common goal and lead the team to it at any price.
Leadership can be defined as an interaction process between leaders and their employees, whereby leaders attempt to inspire employees to fulfill shared goals (Northouse, 2010; Yukl, 2005). Leadership style is the manner and method of motivating people, providing direction and achieving goals (Amirul & Daud, 2012). Style can either encourage or discourage employees’, which can in turn lead to increasing or decreasing performance levels (Belonio, 2012). However, leadership has been of interest to many researchers, who have planned numerous leadership theories and models. According to Doyle and Smith (1999), leadership theories can be divided into four categories: trait, behavioral, contingency, and the transformational and transactional theories.
Leadership: Definition Leadership is the process of influencing the motive of the employees and so directing, guiding them to the proper completion of the short-term goals and the mission, vision of the firm. Leadership referring to achieve a specific set of goals of the business enterprise by minimizing risk and more advantage of opportunities is also called Entrepreneurial Leadership (Rao, 2015). Today leadership is such an iterative process when the leaders should have a variety of qualities and expertise in different area of management. Here, different theories will be explained which can clearly identify the scope, the responsibilities and the area of expertise required to be successful leader.
