Everyone has that one friend that they could never get rid of, never abandon. They may get mad but they will never stop being friends they’ll hug it out or yell it out. That’s how the two main characters from the novel Of Mice and Men act. George a simple farm hand deliberately sacrifices his his time and money to help take care of and assist his friend Lennie. This responsibility has made georges val;ues as a person stand out. He likes to pet mice, but since he’s so big he sometimes accidently kills them. He doesn’t understand that he’s killing them. He will start to pet them and get rough so the mice get scared and bite him. When Lennie is put under stress he freaks out and doesn’t understand what to do so he just holds on tighter, smashing the mice. This happens when Curley’s wife lets Lennie feel her hair---he starts to feel it too hard and she screams. George covers her mouth to stop her from screaming because of the stress hes under he accidently breaks her neck. When Lennie lets go of her he says ““I don’t want ta hurt you” he said, “but george ll be mad if you yell”” (91). After Curley’s wife doesn’t respond he realizes that he hurt her so he hides her. That quote shows that he is scared of getting in trouble by George So he covered her mouth, but in doing so he made the situation worse than it could have been. Lennie was scared that george was gonna have to discipline him and he didn’t want him to. When george finds out what Lennie did he realizes how bad Lennie is getting first it was only mice now its people. George realizes what he has to do. He has to stop lennie from getting hurt but also from hurting others. George values Lennie so much so he realises it’s on him to release lennie from his
