The renaissance was an era of exploration and discovery, it was an age where artists and creatives could flourish. One of those creatives was Leonardo Di Ser Piero da Vinci. In the year of 1452, in Anchiano Tuscany, Italy, Leonardo da Vinci was born. Since his mother, a peasant, and father, a wealthy attorney, weren’t married, da Vinci was an illegitimate child. Because of his illegitimacy, da Vinci was not allowed a university education. Therefore, he was only self-taught in the basics of math, writing, and reading. He was also neglected by his parents in favor of his legitimate siblings. Along with his investment in dissecting many corpses, both sick and healthy, he came to many realisations that were far too advanced for his time. Yet, the people thought that his dissections were gruesome. These practices were outlawed when the pope found out about them. However, today, the innovations and discoveries he made about the human body has inspired scientists to create a surgical robot, which was named after Da Vinci. It has provided a better environment for doctors by reducing fatigue as the robot increases surgical precision and facilitates their work. Leonardo Da Vinci is well known in the art world for developing new art techniques, which was something that set him apart from other artists of the Renaissance. Yet, he still managed to maintain the values of the era. Da Vinci experimented with perspective to create unforgettable impressions of people and places. This can be seen in his famous painting, Mona Lisa, which was painted in 1503. Viewers of the painting describe a feeling of being watched, regardless of their position in relation to the frame. The painting holds a mystery and was a private commission characterized by the mysterious smile of a woman.
