Aero planes are a common way of travelling these days, especially when you are going on a trip to somewhere that is too far for a drive or wastes too much time on the railway. They are used in many ways rather than just travelling: Cargo for supplies; Crop dusting; Photography above air; Sky diving; Military use, etc. The advancements of aeronautical technology have improved in the past years. Scientists and engineers have been constantly improving the quality and air experience of aero planes, and they have spent years of research to create such a sophisticated structure. This raised a question to me: Who was the first person or group to come up with the idea of a flying object that influenced the World in such a big scale? After some research, …show more content…

Known to be famous for his art pieces “Mona Lisa” and the “Last Supper”, Leonardo studied the laws of science and shows amazing details in his art pieces, making him the leading man of the Renaissance. As a kid, Leonardo’s creativity was influenced by the surroundings around him. Getting in contact with wild life animals, insects and plants, shaped his creative personality. At the age of 14, he went to Florence to learn art with Amdrea del Verrocchio. From there he learned Florentine art and mastered it. He was an all-rounder that invents, innovates, creates and develops new ideas and objects. He is the man of future, and never stops finding and seeking for new knowledge. He studied the human body and came up with theories that is erratic. However, in these theories lie one aspect that made him valuable, and it is the courage and determination to continuously seek for answers. Although some theories could be inaccurate, Leonardo still started what had to be finished by us, the people of the future. Same for his inventions, some did work, and some didn't, but the spirit of coming up with ideas that normal human beings couldn't have thought of is already a breakthrough. Leonardo set the foundation for science, and designed building structures and was aiming to make life easier for …show more content…

He studied about the bird and how did they function. He dissected a bat to thoroughly study and understand the mechanics behind this flying organism. He drew sketches and ideas in his notebook, and sketched an artificial wooden wing imitating the bat’s wing, and I quote, “Da Vinci's designs featured a pair of enormous wings connected to a wooden frame, inside of which an intrepid pilot could lie facedown and move the wings up and down by turning a crank that moved a series of rods and pulleys.” (livescience.com, Palermo). His designs were all based on the knowledge of structure of the bird and bat that he dissected. His designs were fascinating, because no one during that time would have thought of a design so sophisticated like the one Da Vinci sketched. Although it may seem simple, you must take into consideration that this was designed way before the invention of motors, the use of metals in architects and designs. Da Vinci might have actually tried building one flying machine himself, or even tried to fly it. However, it was almost impossible to achieve the goal of flying up in the sky as motors were still not invented to generate enough power and speed for the flying machine to even take off. Even if Leonardo did manage to fly it, it would be a guarantee that he will come back in one piece. Da Vinci created a perfect design that needs to be completed by the future generation.
