Leonardo Da Vinci was born out of wedlock in Vinci, Italy. Da Vinci desire to learn more. When he was at the age of 15 da Vinci became a painter at the Andrea Del Verrocchio in Florence, that’s where he got most of his skills. When he was there he was so good even intimidated his mentor. While he was painting he was still was interested in inventing. But that all change in 1482, that’s when he became the Da Vinci everyone knows. Looking threw his scoop, Leo moved from Florence to the capital of Italy Milan. There, da Vinci sold himself to Duke Ludovico Sforza as a military engineer. That’s where he develop most of his many famous war inventions. Da Vinci spent his 17 years working with Duke. Many of Da Vinci’s inventions weren’t actually tested nor built. In his notes he had written out how to operate the device. The first design was called saucer-like gondola. Then he design the ‘helicopter’ which he drawn in 1493. The first ever helicopter wasn’t built until 1940’s.
One of his first ever Da Vinci helicopter designs is called the shallow saucer-like gondola which it had two upright post and on each post there was double set of wings. Which it was very hard to work with. There was a foot paddle, cylinders, the pilot set the wings in motion with his head, hands, and feet.
But the shallow saucer-like gondola did not work. But he didn’t give up. People say how he came up with this is when he studied or looking at a maple seed. Some of us probably played with these when we were children. But the real question is instead of the seed falling down would it be able to fly up if someone push and spin it?
