Leonardo Da Vinci once said "he who does not value life does not deserve it" (Biography.com Editors). Picture a girl who is working on a school art project. As the paint leaves her brush and decorates her canvas, there is a certain joy about what it is she is doing. A smile creeps on her face as she looks onto the masterpiece she just produced and it becomes obvious that she values what life is. Leonardo Da Vinci was a man who produced many different works of art during the Renaissance in Europe. He valued every piece of art he created and made the most of the life he was given. Many influences during the proto- Renaissance did not emerge quite well because the country was stifled by plague and war, but after all the hardship subsided the Renaissance started to make an extreme rise. During the high renaissance ages of 1490s to 1500s Rome placed Florence as the center of the Renaissance, reaching its highest passionate point under the power of Pope Leo X. One of the most famous painters during the High Renaissance time was Leonardo da Vinci. He was an inventor, an architect, a sculptor, a military engineer, and a draftsman as well as a painter. He painted great works like “The Mona Lisa” and the “Virgin on the Rocks” as well as his commonly known, "The Last Supper." Leonardo used Tempera and Oil paint on dried plaster to create his own interpretation of "The Last Supper." Sadly, because of the plaster, the painting became quick to deteriorate and become flaky (Biography.com Editors). Leonardo da Vinci was considered the "Renaissance man" for all the wonderful inventions and works of art that he had produced during his time. Another very famous person was Michaelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475-1564) very commonly known as just Michaelangelo. He was a painter, a sculptor, and an architect. His most common works include sculptures such as "David" and "Pieta." Michaelangelo is also known for his large painting, "The Last Judgement" in the Rome Sistine Chapel. Raphael, or Raffaello Sanzio in Italian, was also another Renaissance painter, although he was also, an architect. Raphael painted "Heliodorus Expelled from the Temple" in the Stanza di Eliodor in the Vatican's Stanze di Raffaello, which is known as "Raphael's Room" (Bramblett).
