The Master of All Renaissance Art Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most recognized artists in the Renaissance and arguably of all time. He was an illegitimate child born on April 15, 1452, in Anchiano, Italy. He lived in Anchiano for five years until he and his family moved to a small town called Vinci. Interestingly, his surname means "of Vinci.
Throughout centuries, artists have come and gone, painting various moments in history along the way. Although one artist in particular not only showed the past through his art, he showed our current future as well. Born in 1452, Leonardo da Vinci was more than just a painter, he was a sculptor, a writer, an inventor and a scientist. From awing generations with his painted masterpieces, such as the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper, to designing one of the first helicopters and parachutes, da Vinci has been considered a Universal Genius. Leonardo was the son of Ser Piero di Vinci and Caterina and was born out of wedlock.

Many of Da Vinci’s inventions weren’t actually tested nor built. In his notes he had written out how to operate the device. The first design was called saucer-like gondola. Then he design the ‘helicopter’ which he drawn in 1493. The first ever helicopter wasn’t built until 1940’s.
His earliest work can be dated back to 5th August, 1473. He continued staying with Verricchio until he opened his own workshop in 1478. It was with Verricchio that Leonardo painted Baptism of Christ and when Verriccho saw the talent that Leonardo had was superior to what he himself possessed that he gave up painting. In 1482, he began doing his first commissioned work by working for wealthy patrons.
The artist of my choice in this case would be Leonardo da Vinci. He is an Italian artist who made history in inventions, painting, sculpturing, and engineering among other fields. Leonardo da Vinci is considered as one of the greatest painters to ever exist (Freud 34). His exploits in enhancing humanism in paintings are epitomized in the renaissance period (Burke 211). Vinci’s imaginations and immense curiosity are still remembered as some of the aspects that complemented his talent.
Leonardo Da Vinci was more than a painter, sculptor and inventor. Da Vinci was a scientist in every sense of the word. He was fascinated by the universe and the world around him. He was also fascinated with the smallest details of the world in which he lived. He began several treatises on painting, architecture, mechanics and a whole host of other scientific topics.
