Let Kids Run Wild Online by Danah Boyd demonstrates how technology has become more important over the past few years. Not only adults are addicted to the new technology, as well as teens who are obsessively addicted to social media and smartphone apps. The internet is a whole new world for children and adults who can explore or find something that people can enjoy sharing their life story with friends. However, technology has become the “new field for the age-old battle between adults and teens,” which has taken their freedom away from socializing outside their bedroom walls. I believe parents shouldn’t let their kids run wild online because many childrens are unable to get on their bicycles and hang out with friends without getting on their phones to gossip online. Social media and smartphone apps have become so popular because “teens need a place to call their own.” Society has changed over the years because nowadays people get judged on how they look, dress, speak, and especially for girls, their bodies. Many teens feel lonely so they try to get involve in so many social media to make friends such as, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Music.ly, etc. However, as teens moved online many of them get bully online for not having friends or for being “fake.” As well as, girls who send inappropriate pictures of themselves end up committing suicide for getting cyberbullied for the pictures they send. Parents should get involve in their child's life or communicate with them often and check up on them so they won’t make a mistake they may regret in the future. I can relate to this because in middle school a girl got cyberbullied for sending inappropriate pictures, now everyone sees her as a “nasty
