Letter To Tarleton State University

I am writing this letter in order to appeal my denial into the Teacher Education Program at Tarleton State University. My initial denial was a result of my scores on the writing portion of my departmental screening, on October 16th, 2015. While there is no refuting the score that I received on the writing portion of my screening, I feel that my writing alone does not define my abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Professional Development II Student. The reason that the scores for my writing were not adequate includes poor spelling, poor sentence structure, and punctuation errors. Without this denial, I would not have been as aware of the problems that I faced with my writing. Because of this, I am now able to take action, in order to improve my writing ability, and take steps towards achieving my goal to be the best teacher that I can be. I now better understand how much I have to learn, but also, how amazing being a teacher really is. I would like to move on to Professional Development II so that I can continue learning from real world experiences. I will make sure to keep improving my writing while in that class. Moving on would not mean forgetting about my denial, but instead I would use everything I work on this December, in my writing classes, to improve myself as an educator and to help my students. I will never give up on my dream to become a teacher. Teaching is the most rewarding and difficult profession. Every obstacle put in my way, I will work to overcome, and eventually use in a lesson in my future classroom. Some things cannot be taught out of a book, but instead must be learned from life experiences that you pick up along the way. Thank you for considering my
