Mr. Marc L. Finney, the Director of Library Services for the Norfolk State University Lyman Beecher Brooks Library, is the library leader that I interviewed. Mr. Finney has served almost three years at the helm of the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library. Mr. Finney received his Bachelor degree from Virginia Union University, and his Master degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Lastly, Mr. Finney brings a wealth of knowledge to this interview that comes from his extensive library experience.

The coordinators of the various library departments, information services, access services, technical services, archives, systems, and the office manager are next in line. Last are the different employees employed in each library departments. Mr. Finney organized monthly meetings with coordinators to discuss various issues concerning the library, and new innovations the library are willing to undertake. Finney first library experience was as a work study in Virginia Union University. He worked in an automation project in which he catalogued books from the card catalog into a computer database. He later worked as Library Assistant at Virginia Union working the circulation desk and assisting faculty and students. Mr. Finney furthered his by receiving his Master degree from the University of Pittsburgh. His first professional librarian job was at Virginia Union as the librarian in charge of the Interlibrary Loan department. Also, he was liaison to the History and Political Science department. Next, he was appointed to work at The Wilder Collection at Virginia Union. From there, he worked as a librarian for Richmond Public Schools. Then, Mr. Finney became the Director of Library Services at St. Paul’s College. When, St. Paul’s College closed, he later worked for Halifax Community. Currently, Mr. Finney is the Director of the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library at Norfolk State
