During World War II, the German Reich marched across the entire continent of Europe. During the Holocaust, many people became discouraged and lost hope in the future of society. However, the excerpts from “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” written by herself, and “Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler’s Shadow” by Susan Campbell Bartoletti, prove that being positive and persevering is the best thing that someone can do. Whether hiding from the Nazis or already taken by them, the best response to have during conflict and chaos is maintaining a positive outlook on life and to persist through difficult times.
Figurative language is essential to “The Diary of Anne Frank” because it makes the story sound more mature. For instance, in the story it talks about how Anne is debating whether to burn the Star of David or to keep it. Anne says,” [She starts to throw hers in, and cannot. ] It’s funny, I can’t throw mine away.
Dealing With Conflict and Hard Times When it comes to dealing with tough times such as going to internment camps or hiding from Nazi soldiers so that they aren’t taken to centration camps, there are three important questions that come into play; What motivates people to move through hard times and moments? , What can people do to help others going through tough problems?, and Who can people go to to help them through tough times or conflict? I think that people can best respond to conflict by staying strong through courageousness and always having people in their life to talk to.
In the diary of Anne Frank is written by a young teenager named Anne Frank during the time of the Holocaust. Anne Frank is a teenage girl that lives in Amsterdam, Netherlands with her parents Otto Frank and Edith Frank. Her and her family including close friends had to hide in an attic for 2 whole years in fear of being put into a concentration camp by the Nazis. World War 2 ended in September 2, 1945 and was supposed to be the defeat and the end of Hitler and the Nazi party. At least that was the thought today there are still Nazis around only they have now been renamed the Neo Nazis.
In the Diary of Anne Frank the authors use figurative language to show us and tell us that more about the character in the story. For example, in the quote below it shows that something drastic has happened and it happened to whoever owned this specific object. In the story of Anne Frank, the authors write,”His eye is caught by something lying on the floor. I is a women’s white glove… He breaks down, crying”
In “The Diary of Anne Frank” the setting takes place in the 1940’s in Amsterdam, Netherlands in a secret annex. The plot of the true story is that a 13 year old girl and her family have to hide from the German soldiers because they were hunting all Jewish people to capture and send them to concentration camps. After 2 years of hiding they were eventually caught be the Green Police and were taken to concentration camps. The main characters are Anne Frank, Mr. Frank, Peter Van Daan, and Mr. Dussel. The mood of the story is depressing and frightful for their experience throughout the story.
During her confinement in the annex Anne often turns to the privacy of her diary to confide in. The diary is a place where“[Anne] can put all of her thoughts, all [her] feelings” (33), which is a luxury many of the other residents in the annex desire. During the play, we witness some of the direct quotes from Anne 's diary. Along with the humour and trivial problems that a teenager would write about, there are poetic and morose segments about her feelings about the holocaust and being trapped in the annex. She writes about being "surrounded by darkness and danger" (40); these sentiments from a 14-year-old girl gives insight to the forcibly accelerated way she grows up under such circumstances.
The Diary of Anne Frank Anne Frank and her family are Jews, and we all know how Hitler doesn’t like Jews, so Anne and her family went into hiding. They went to this small place called the “Secret Annexe” above an office building. There are times in the day where no one can move around or make a noise. Anne has a diary that she “talks to”. Everyone in the “Secret Annexe” thinks that Anne is just a baby and treats her like one.
Do you know who Anne Frank is? yeah–me neither, but she wrote a diary about her experiences in Nazi Germany as a Jew. Even with only five lines you can use dramatic tone shifts to show emphasis or emotion “Edith, please. go back to sleep.

The Diary of Anne Frank is a well-known story, one that many high schoolers even have to read in one of their English classes. Anne Frank, her family, and a few other Jews were hiding in an annex during WWII. Until one day when the police found where they were and arrested them all, taking them to concentration camps. Anne Frank’s father, Otto, was the only one to survive. No one knows who leaked the secret of Jews hiding in the Annex.
Imagine how it feels to be stuck in a tiny, miniscule room for almost two years, not able to make a sound or movement and if heard by someone, death or concentration camp is the destination? The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is about a small family which consists of Anne, Margot, Mr. Frank, and Mrs. Frank who were in a shock of fear, and went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Over the course of the story other characters join the family into hiding such as Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, and their son Peter. During the time of hiding, Anne kept a diary to write down all her thoughts, fears, and feelings and was later known to be the most important piece of literature from the times of the Holocaust. The story takes you through their everyday lives of hiding in the annex which also includes arguing and times of happiness.
The novel is written from a third person objective. This novel is written as a play, so I know that this is third person. Plays are narrated in third person because you do not see the play through one character 's viewpoint. Also the word I does not often appear in the play.
