Keeping the folders in their lockers so that it is easy access and locker room discussions can be more meaningful with notes on the opponents. Giving each member an assignment before the match will be meaningful to the athletes and a motivation to try and complete the task that was assigned to them. A great motivator for teams would be for the head coach to give his team a great pep talk in the locker room and to get his athletes pumped for the match. Character Development Athletes with good character look confident, poised, trusting, relaxed and play with confidence. Coaches are advocates for their athletes so they should begin by being honest with them from the beginning. Coaches should never ask for special favors for their athletes or do whatever it takes to “win at all cost”. Athletes should be able to work their way to the top on their own or with the help of their teammates and family members. Coaches who do special favors for their athletes to keep them from not getting in trouble will only help these athletes to think that they can get away with anything. They can also hurt their player by making them think that they are not directly responsible for their behavior. During the season, concessions at home matches and football games seem to be the popular ways of fundraising. Other ways are t-shirt sales, hosting tournaments, car washes on the teams day-off, and having a serve-a-thon. Boosters are there to support the athletic teams. Parents and family members are encouraged to get involved with the booster club to help fundraise and support the team with whatever the need is. The booster clubs work closely with the head coach and are approved by the principal. Coaches will have no access to the funds but will give the members a list of what is needed for the program. The booster will help in any way to raise the funds needed to provide for the team. It is always great to have the support of a booster club.
