In the book Lord of the Files, we’re brought upon the question “is Jack a villain or the true definition of survival of the fittest?” With many opinions, feelings, and thoughts on that question. It’s more than likely that everyone will decide on Jake being a “villain,” which of course is easy to spot out because Jake could be blamed for a couple of deaths throughout the book, and his savagery demeanor portrays a villainous outlook. Stranded on an island with their classmates. Jack is more of the primary example of a tough leader, more of a savage, likes violence, and desires power. With his following growing largely, it’s now a little war between Jack’s group and Ralph’s Group. Obsessed with Power and an imaginary figured that has been “roaming” around. Jack learns that the “beast”(imaginary figure) strike fear into the other kids hearts, and he uses that to control them even more. As, the story proceeds on. Jack continues his dictatorship among the boys. A couple incidents occur where many would hold Jack accountable. “Surrounded by a fringe of inquisitive bright creatures, itself a silver shape beneath the steadfast constellations, Simon's dead body moved out toward the open sea.” (Golding, 244) With the kids under the influence of fear. They mistook Simon as the “beast.” Jack orders the group to attack and Simon gets rushed by the crowd which eventually leads to Simon getting ripped apart by the kids. Immediately, the fingers point at Jack because he orders to attack and he also called for the feast to happen. Everyone looks over the fact that rumors of a “beast” is on the island. How could Jack be the blame if he fears the so called “beast” as well? Quite frankly, Jack just wanted to keep his group safe with his savage like mentality. “The rock struck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee: the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist. Piggy, saying nothing, with no time for even a grunt, traveled through the air sideways from the rock, turning over as he went. Piggy fell 40 feet and landed on his back across the the square red rock in the sea. His head opened and stuff came out and turned red. Piggy's arms and legs twitched a bit, like a pigs after it has been killed”(Golding, 286) While, Jack and Ralph are caught in a scuffle. Roger is on the top of the hill about to push the large boulder down. Hearing trembles! Both Jack and Ralph jumped out of harms way, and Piggy gets struck by the ongoing boulder. With Piggy laying there motionless. Once again, Jack gets the finger pointed at him. Mind you, Jack was in an altercation with Ralph and nowhere neared the boulder! In fact, Roger was the one who pushed the boulder but it was often stated that Rogered was order by Jack to push
